About Me

My photo
My name is Donna and I am a mother of three amazingly loud and wild boys. My son Bryland was born in September 2007. My son Jackson was born 14 months later in November 2008. And my youngest was born in January 2011. I’ve been married to most amazing and Godly man, Jeremy, since August 2004. Since I became a mom, I was blessed to stay home for 2 years and returned to teaching half-time Kindergarten but it was very challenging for our family, so I am home again. :) I absolutely love my family and my Jesus!

Update!

Hey, hey everyone! So it's been awhile and this will be my third and hopefully final attempt to keep this blog going. I mentioned to Jeremy that this next year I would really like to blog consistently and also to give out handmade/homemade gifts for everyone's birthdays or holidays. We will see what I accomplish, especially with new baby arriving in February.

Yes, we are expecting our third baby and it's been quite a challenging pregnancy throughout. My first trimester, I was feeling horrible and was actually on medication (Zofran...I believe) and about half way through my second trimester I was feeling better. Then contractions started at like week 23. Well, they came back at like week 25 and were about 3-4 minutes apart. The shot they gave me didn't slow it down too much so I was prescribed medication that almost made me pass out.

I remember turning to Bryland, my 3 year old son, and said "Bryland, if mommy doesn't wake up, call daddy." He said "ok" and turned to watch his new movie. Then he said, "but where is your phone?" I knew I was in good hands! He is a bright boy but that made me cry so I toughed it out and walked over to my neighbors house and she immediately knew I needed help. She took the boys to her house, called Jeremy and had him come home immediately and stayed close by as my heart was racing from my medication. Luckily, I came back to after an hour and a half! And my neighbor being as amazing as she is, did all my dishes and brought over dinner for us. We love them so much.
All that to say, I've been sitting around alot doing nothing and going crazy. So I've been trying to craft when I can because I'm still sitting and I really love to craft. I started to sew and was able to make my sister's each a hooded scarf for their trip to London. But the boys want to get into all the pins, scissors, thread, etc. so I was only able to sew when they're asleep. Then I finally figured out that I should start crocheting again and this has worked out well because the only thing the boys will get into are the crochet hooks. So far, these are some of the things I have made and going to give out as gifts for 2011.

Painting Fun

Today is Jeremy's dads birthday and we celebrated it yesterday. I had the boys do a piece of painting for their papa. I bought several stretched out canvases for a couple projects I have (a later post when it's complete) and saved some for the boys. I bought some acrylic paint, paint brushes and sponges to help them make their masterpiece. I tried to buy colors that matched my in-laws' master bedroom but once the paint got mixed the colors only kinda mattered.

Bryland had a blast and Jackson would have eaten the paint so we gave him a paint brush and he made several strokes, then slammed his other hand and went crazy. I got this idea from an episode of Jon and Kate plus 8...but they had more time, helpers, supplies, etc. So I worked with what I had. The picture is of the masterpiece that will go for millions in a few years. Little did Jeremy's parents know we gave them a piece of art that would allow them to retire sooner than they had hoped. :) (Also in the picture, is of the top of a dining table that I found at an estate sale a month ago.)

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Can you please tell the man who owns the basket that is overflowing, that his things are suppose to be inside the basket and may not overflow out or over the top? Also, tell him if he wants to do that...at least get a cuter lunch bag. :) Hehehe...the man told me that he did that to be funny and was waiting to see how long it would take for me to notice. Of course, as soon as I noticed I went craaaazzzzy!!!

So I'm still trying to figure out this Blog thing. Some friends of mine from high school are giving me tips through FB and I'm so appreciative. I haven't figured out how to change my Header and want to do that when I have more time. I've already learned that my last blog was too long and need at least more pictures to make it interesting. I also have so much to write but don't want to write everyday but at least once a week. I just feel like in the beginning I have to tell people alot to catch them up. I dunno, maybe I don't because it's not like they're going to go back and read all of my postings...or maybe they will.

Too Many Projects

So I always want too do more than I can handle but I don't know how to STOP!!! Since I've had kids, I've slowed down alot but there are many things around the house that I would like to do.

One of those things is, I need to be on a better cleaning schedule. But I'm always tired by the time the kids are down so I never want to clean. I'm up by 6:00a.m. and try to head out by 7:00a.m. but that rarely happens because the boys wake up before than. So Jeremy and I take turns tending to their needs, while the other is getting ready.

I work all morning and rush home to try to be home at noon so my sisters, who have been so gracious to watch the boys, can go to school or have life. Rushing home also allows me to be able to spend some time with the boys before they go down for their naps. Jackson has been napping for only 30 minutes a day so I get nothing done. During my 30 minutes I clean my glass table (it drives me crazy to see it a mess), empty the dishwasher, load the dishwasher, eat lunch than waaaaahhhhhh. He really doesn't want to wake up, he wants me to hold him so he can sleep on me. So I hold him and try to put him down again but it doesn't work too well. Once they are up, we try to get out of the house to do something fun or run errands. Then dinner needs to be made, dishes need to be clean again and by the end of the night I don't want to clean my house! So this is my excuse for a dirty house.

During my free time I would much rather mess around on Facebook, sew, snuggle with my HOT husband and now blog. :) So my recent projects have been doing things for me so I can stay sane and be a happy wife and a happy mom for my family. I have also been trying to make my house a home and reorganizing it. Our kitchen counters are always cluttered, especially with mail, coupons, magazines, the kids' toys, the list goes on. So today, I bought some cute baskets for each of us at Target (love that store) and went to Ross to see what else I could find. Success!!! I think it looks pretty cute. Not exactly what I would like on our counter but it'll keep us somewhat more organized.

I also hate it when I see our shoes everywhere, especially at the front door. There's a man in my house, I won't say his name, who likes to have a couple pairs of shoes by the front door. It's easier for him to pick out the one that matches his outfit and slip it on and head out the door. What's that you say? Oh, no he doesn't know this could be a hazard to his family! We could easily trip over his size 10 shoes and bonk our heads then end up in the ER. So while I was at Target, I found a killer deal on this basket in the picture. I brought this man to the basket and showed him that this is a good place for his shoes. I also told him that once we have our LifeGroup from our church started, we could have some of the people who attend put their shoes in there. He thought it was a good idea. :) But I totally understand if you have some kickin' hot shoes and you don't want them scratched....when you're over you don't have to put them in there.

In the beginning...

Sew, I've always wanted to start a blog and actually tried once and called it REAL MOMS but got too busy and never got around to updating it. I wanted to perfect the blog before I published it to the World Wide Web and that didn't happen. So this blog will be a taste of everything not just about being a mom!

I wanted to blog because there are so many things that I am passionate about and wanted to share it with those who wanted to read it. I want this blog to be a place where people can keep up with my family. A place where I can inspire people in the things that I love and have others inspire me. Let me know what you think and give me some feedback!!!

I am so excited to blog and don't even know where to start so I'm sure everything will be me rambling until I'm able to organize my thoughts better. Bear with me as I figure this all out.
